This would be interesting, but its $40 and I would be paying for a feature I do not need. CS goes to GPIO 8 (chip enable zero often called chip select). VDD pin goes to 3.3 volts on the Pi and the VSS goes to a ground pin. The water level sensor’s ‘S’ pin is connected to CH0 (ADC channel 0). The plus and minus pins go to 3.3V and ground respectively. The Raspberry Pi reads the status of one or two water sensor device(s) on one or two of its GPIO pins. When water is detected the Raspberry Pi emails out an alert to a recipient group and calls a phone number list via VoIP playing a stored wave file with a spoken alert phrase.

I did some light research and in one place the "Watershed" water quality level being below average but I'm not sure how much that correlates to drinking water. 1.1 OBJECTIVES Keywords:- Raspberry- Pi, GSM , Relay , Starter ,Motor. Water pressure sensors can also be used to measure the water level by monitoring the pressure at the bottom of the tank. I am using a 200 PSI sensor to measure my home pipeline pressure, which can be up to 180 PSI. For the water level, you can use a much lower pressure sensor. For the pressure sensor connection, I will use the ADS1115 breakout board. 1. Calculate water volume in the tank, sms the water truck driver two days prior to delivery and give a volume required 2. data log the readings every minute for a spreadsheet 3. make it accessible over the internet 4. Add other I2C sensors like temp/anemometer

This has been intriguing project. I was able to use your idea in setting up my raspberry pi to track the water usage for my power garden. I have set up a WordPress page with MySQL on the RP to track the the current water level. The project page is at: smarttowergarden.com. I used VNC to link into the RPi and the GUI starts on the RPi startup. All that has to be done is oven VNC viewer on the iPad and the up to date water levels is displayed. A just had to write a simple code to get an email when the tank is low and when it was full. Troy water is fairly good. They are the largest water supplier in RensCo (AFAIK) producing over 2M Gal/Day. If you are sensitive to chlorine tastes I recommend getting two pitchers to keep in your fridge and letting it sit overnight before drinking. I live in an acreage community where we have to have our water trucked in. My water guy says he always brings in 5m3 of water and fills my tank until it starts to overflow onto the ground. I asked him if he would use an electronic level monitor to offload, and he seemed keen on the idea, so I had my impetus to get started.
